Some deductions made by Greg Clements, 23rd February 2022, with additional detail added by John Clement ( a distant relative who lives in England) 28th February 2022 for Clements prior to 1750. John Clement is very confident that the Clement/Clements name is somewhat interchangeable in the records.

Francis Clement Born: circa 1630 (First marriage to Alice happened before the 1654
baptism of their son John at Compton Dando).
Death: 1708 Burial: 29 August 1708, Compton Dando.
Francis Clement was married at least twice; 1st wife was Alice (buried 1661 at
Compton Dando) by whom he had at least two children, John (1654) and Anne (1657). I posit that Ephraim Clement (below) is a further son of this marriage but there is no surviving baptism record.
2nd wife was Katherine Peacocke whom he married 29 July 1663, St Mary, Compton Dando. They had at least four children, Katherine (1664), Nathaniel (1670), Mary (1672), George (1678)
Francis was Parish Clerk for the Parish of Compton Dando at the time John Newman was its Vicar (1662-3). He is the earliest known direct male ancestor of Clements B742594 (YS32054) who is Y33767(+),and BZ4354(-).

Ephraim Clement Born: putative son of Francis & Alice Clement hence born before 1663.
Married, circa 1690 See Bristol Marriage Licence Bond.
14 May 1690 Ephraim x Clement (?1669-1725?), Masbury (Mastbury) [Marksbury], Somerset.,Yeoman, and Hannah Hill (?1670-1717), Winterbourne, Gloucestershire: Bondsman. Barnabus Lee, Stanton [Prior], Somerset, Yeoman
Reference: Page 210 in “Marriage Bonds for the Diocese of Bristol” Vol1 1637-1700. Transcribed by Denzil Hollis, Ed. Elizabeth Ralph, Bristol & Gloucestershire Archaeological Society, 1952
Note that Baranaby Lee & Kathren Clement were married at Stanton Prior, 3 Oct 1686. It seems to me Kathren is a putative sister or half sister of Ephraim? This would mean Ephraim’s bondsman is his brother-in-law. A likely Katherine Clement daughter of Francis & Katherine Clement is baptized Compton Dando, 31 May 1664. (This child would be approx full age at time of Barnaby Lee marriage. An earlier Katherine Clement, daughter of William Clement “ye Younger” was baptized at Compton Dando 16 May 1654 and hence seems too old). Note comments about Francis Clement (above)

Burial of wife: Hannah Clement, 1 August 1717, St Mary the Virgin, Nempnett Thrubwell

Notice that Ephraim & Hannah move from their initial marital home near, or in, the parishes of Marksbury and Compton Dando to the parish of Nempnett Thrubwell about 1697 (based on baptismal records for their children). It would seem likely that about that date Ephraim became tenant of the 44 acre, West Kingswood Tenement, in the Manor of Regilbury which comprised holdings throughout Nempnet Thrubwell. His son, Ephraim (brother of Daniel, see below), is the tenant of the West Kingswood holding in 1730. Subsequently (1840 Tithe Map) this holding is called Longhouse Farm. The buildings are now several private homes (2022).

Married 1763 October 16 in Blagdon, Somerset, to Sarah Offer (1740-1823?) both from Blagdon Sarah burial 1822 Aug 8 in Blagdon age 78 = 1744 birth
1778 May 17 Baptism Ephraim Baptism was sometimes delayed many
years, so Ephraim could have been born in 1777. This would agree with the
burial record of 1830 for Ephraim.

1766 William was paid 6 shillings by the Blagdon church for a double bath?

1841 census of Draycott shows Mary (age55) living with Thomas age 20

		A Mary Clements is in Blagdon church records 1835,1842 1843 1844 1845.
Ephraim is living in Draycott, Somerset 1813, 1815, 1818, 1825
